Minister of Transport conducts an inspection visit to the general company for land transport

The Minister of Transport, Captain Nasir Hussein Al-Shibli, made a visit to the General Company for Land Transport, accompanied by the Minister's technical deputy Engineer Talib Bayesh, and the Director General of Project Implementation, Mr. Kareem Hashim Al-Jabiri. He was received by the General Director of the company, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Mortada Karim Al-Shahmani, and the directors of the departments. During his tour of the Company’s halls, he inspected the hall of GPS project, the truck tracking system, praising this project and its role in monitoring the incoming and transiting trucks and the project’s particulars and its application within a unified map in the handling by private entities that includes cargo data at all ports, knowing the loading and unloading times, and the distances traveled, to protect the goods from smuggling and tampering and transform land transport into a fully digitalized system, in addition to the diversity of activity and the protection of goods and the safety of their arrival to their destination.

The project engineer, Mr. Mustafa Nabeel, delivered a video presentation of the role of land transport in revitalizing trade and the company’s keenness to automate the transport sector in accordance with the highest international standards, pursuant to the Land Transport Convention (TIR) to which Iraq acceded in 2020 for safe, prosperous, efficient and reliable transport so that it is implemented at land, sea and air ports. On his part, the director general of the company expressed his thanks for this visit and the support it represents for the company and its employees towards making more achievements to the best the public interest.
